From complete beginners to advancing tournament players, our goal is that all PS11 players can experience both the joy and significant social/educational benefits of learning and playing chess! Together at all levels our PS11 team will prepare for local, city, state & national competitions.

Chess Update

Congratulations to the amazing PS11 girls team (Rhea, Emma, Alice Sadie Indira and Sabella) for their great showing at the  PS 11 hosted, CIS all girls NYC Championship Chess Tournament this weekend. The K-2 Championship team cinched first place. A huge day for Emma who came in first with a perfect score. Go girls!

Chess Team Scores Big at Lower Lab

Our PS 11 team showed up in force to the Lower Lab Chess Tournament and the results were strong! PS11 was recognized with both team and individual awards in multiple sections. A special congratulations to Louis, Oliver, Donovan, Anay, Wyatt, and Nanao for all being recognized for their individual efforts. Next stop Saratoga for the New York State Championship.

PS11 Chess Team Has Big Wins at City Championship!

An incredible weekend for our PS11 Chess team at the City Championship in Brooklyn this weekend. Our team of 39 players battled over two days displaying incredible team spirit and having fun playing chess! Congratulations to Oli (U1100) and Luca (U400) for getting medals by scoring 4 out of 5 in their sections. Our teams brought home trophies:, the Elementary Championship team ( Viggo, Joshua, Lois and Avaan) played 6 tough rounds to come in fifth in the City. The Elementary U1100 team (Oliver, Eisa, Aarush, Elliott and Ali) also snagged a fifth place trophy. PS 11 continue to be a force to reckon with in chess! Go Chelsea Chessmates!
