5th Grade Trip to Washington DC May 17th—18th
5th graders embark on a journey to our Nation’s capital, the culminating event in their in-depth study of the structure and history of American Government. During this overnight trip, they'll visit the Capitol Building, Supreme Court, National Archives, Smithsonian Museum, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, FDR Memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery.

Crafts in Chelsea Spring Festival on 21st Street May 19th
Come shop and have fun at this creative PS11 fundraiser, held on West 21st Street. 80+ craft vendors, food, kids' arts & crafts, face painting, bake sale, garden sale and live entertainment! Please spread the word to friends, neighbors and family to help make this a successful event. There's something for everyone!

PS 11 is excited about this Book Fair to kick off summer reading. You will find the latest and finest just right books for your kids, as well as books of interest to parents. Shop from May 22-25, and be sure to mark your calendar for the SLT Poetry Night where the whole family can join in the fun. The Book Fair is a great way to get everyone excited about reading. Don’t miss the latest SLT Family Workshop PS11's Poetry Night, an exhiliarating live reading of original poetry from our talented poets from each grade at PS11.  

Following the reading, please join us for a free wrap sandwich and view more poetry. Each and every student will have poetry on display!

And come ready to shop for summer reading books at the Scholastic Book Fair (running May 22–25th). All proceeds support our classroom libraries and great programs for our kids!

PLEASE be on time, seating in the auditorium is limited!

In addition to its official responsibility of producing a Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP), the PS11 SLT organizes Family Workshops and Events that foster parental involvement, community building and provide valuable information and tools to students, parents and guardians throughout the school year.

Family Friday, May 25th from 8:50am-9:35am
Please join us in your child's classroom, where you'll have the chance to work with your child in hands-on activities, find out what's going on in the classroom, attend publishing parties and much more. PS11 Family Fridays are usually held on the last Friday of each month, and all parents and/or guardians are invited and encouraged to attend.

NYC Public Schools Closed May 28th
PS11 will be closed in observation of Memorial Day.

PS11 Spring School Tour schedule:
• May 31 (rescheduled from May 18)

All tours begin promptly at 9:15 AM. To sign-up for a tour, families need to email smcgill3@schools.nyc.gov with the names of attendees and one preferred tour date. Tour requests will not be confirmed, unless we are at capacity.

NOTE: We cancelled our Friday, May 18th school tour and rescheduling it for May 31st.  Since the Gifted and Talented Program placement offers for Fall 2012 will be sent out to families the week of May 21, with responses due on June 4th, it makes more sense to re-schedule that tour for Thursday, May 31 at 9:15 AM.
