4th and 5th Grade Spelling Bee

Time to sign up for the 4th and 5th Grade Spelling Bee. PS11 Spelling Bee  PS11 will offer two spelling bees for 4th and 5th Graders! Depending on the number of students, participants may take a grade-specific qualifying test on Friday, October 12th during lunch period. The top ten 4th grade students will compete in a 4th Grade Spelling Bee at 8:00 am on October 24th. (Parents are welcome to attend.) The top twenty 5th grade students and top two finishers from the 4th Grade Spelling Bee will compete in our School Spelling Bee on Thursday, November 8th at 6:15 pm. The top three 5th grade finishers at our School Spelling Beewill advance to the Manhattan District Spelling Bee in early 2019, where they will have the opportunity to qualify for the Daily News New York Citywide Spelling Bee (a qualifier for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. that will take place in May 2019). Citywide Spelling Bee Results

The annual Daily News Citywide Spelling Bee took place on March 20th. Public and private school students ranging from 5th - 8th grade who were winners of their borough spelling bees participated in the event. This was the first year since 2015 a PS11 student made it to the citywide bee. We want to congratulate our 5th grader Victor for placing 18th in the event. He did a terrific job!

PS 11 5th Graders at the Manhattan Spelling Bee

Seventy 5th - 8th graders from various schools around Manhattan participated in the Manhattan Spelling Bee on January 9th. All three of our students made it very far in the bee. 

Victor tied for 4th place and will be moving on to the NY Daily News City-wide Spelling Bee next month. Congratulations to all three of out students.

CONGRATULATIONS to all 40 of our 4th Grade spelling bee participants and our winners!

After a qualifying test, 10 Finalists competed in our Fourth-Grade Spelling Bee on October 26th.

Dhara came in 1st place and Ptolemy came in 2nd place. Our top two finishers have the opportunity to join fifth graders in the PS11 School Spelling Bee on Tuesday, November 8th at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. Join us!
